Dear MECA Members,

As-salamu-alaikum.

Hope you are all doing well, staying home and keeping safe from COVID 19.

  1. In response to request for donations, there was good response from MCC batches and individual ex-cadets. This time, from Batch 05, MECA received Taka 3 lacs+ as donation for this program, which was collectively donated by the members of 5th Batch home and abroad in the memories of recently departed Fahian Bhai (C185) – died on April 15, 2020 in Czech Republic and Mujib Bhai (C230) – died on April 20, 2020 in Queens, New York.
  2. This time, due to COVID 19 situation, the grocery items were collected from enlisted supplier of MCC with assistance from MCC Authority and distributions were also arranged by MCC Authority.
  1. On 17th May 2020, MCC Principal, Mr. Biman Roy Chowdhury inaugurated distributions of Grocery bags among existing employees of MCC (3rd & 4th Class) inside campus through an “unceremonious program”. On 18th May, 2020, grocery bags were distributed among retired employees, arranged outside MCC Campus. There was no representation from MECA on obvious grounds. Few snapshots taken on the occasion are shared herewith.
  1. This time also, almost 200 grocery bags were distributed among current and retired employees of MCC / their families. Each bag contained reasonable quantities of good quality rice, dal, salt, sugar, oil, milk, shemai etc.
  1. MCC Authority ensured prescribed social distancing during distributions to avoid COVID 19 infections.
  1. On request from Batch 5, MCC Authority requested all employees to pray for the departed souls of Fahian Bhai and Mujib Bhai. A special dua was also arranged after Tarabih Prayer on 17th April, 2020 at MCC Mosque.
  1. MECA is thankful to MCC Authority for all the assistances and arrangements towards making this program a success.
  1. MECA is planning to send lump sum stock of personal protection items and essential medicines post Eid-ul-Fitr break. The stock will remain with MCC Authority as reserved for use as and when required to combat COVID 19 infections.
  1. This time, total collection is BDT 6.3 lacs so far. Funds are still flowing in, thanks to all donors. MECA request all batches and ex-cadets to continue donating to MECA Welfare Fund so that MECA can take up programs at appropriate times, as and when needed.
